Also: it's a LOT sometimes, this parenting thing. Get some support for you too x

Your wife is very wrong and misguided. Do not allow this.

Get professional advice from NSPCC or Childline that you can report back to your wife. No one would agree to this.

Thanks very much for the help. It is not happening. But I am getting made out to be unreasonable, like I’m a strict Victorian father.

i know it’s not the weans Dad’s fault, but I’m starting to dislike him. Is that abnormal?

no used forums before, so apologies if this not the patter!

Welcome to the world of parenthood. You're the father and by default the one that needs to say no.

Naw works too.

You simply tell your DD no. Your wife is wrong to encourage it.

Mumofoneandone · 23/07/2026 11:45

Absolutely not. Safeguarding concern as she is underage and autistic.

hopspot · 23/07/2026 11:47

No way

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 23/07/2026 12:10

Absolutely not. No idea why you are disliking the boyfriend's father unless he is encouraging this in which case I would also have safeguarding concerns especially given her autism.

She's your child, put your foot down.

Absolutely not appropriate. Your wife needs to wise up.

We had this with 14 yo daughter. I was so pleased that after they broke up when he was being nasty about her in their class there was nothing he could say about her having slept over. He was doing his best to trash her reputation but he couldn’t use that.

You need to protect your daughter from what she doesn’t realise at this age.

Apart from risk of pregnancy of course!
