How do you soothe your baby?

White noise? Gentle lullabies? For reasons best known to himself, my 4mo will only settle if I bounce him around the house, singing 'the wheels on the bus go round and round'. The noisier and more boisterous, the sooner he conks out.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Noise works well. Haven't you noticed that babies often sleep when out in their pram/buggy?
The traffic noises, the noises of pedestrians, the noise of the wheels on the pavement etc all help baby sleep.

I always carried on exactly as I did at home before my kids were born, regardless of whether they were sleepy/tired etc?

So, music on, hoover out and get stuck in cleaning.

Because my kjds never had to have 'quiet' when asleep, I could hoover their rooms while they were in bed and they'd never stir.

Quiet just means baby has no other noise to 'distract' them from crying imo.

I used to hum 'I vow to thee my country' 😂😂

At four months I often had to stick the fan on and face my baby towards a white wall while they screamed with tiredness in my arms but refused to sleep! Walking around and around the garden in the cool dusk was another one. It did get better, we were able to change to shush-patting and hand holding as they got bigger.

Nowadays I run them around the park until bedtime means effectively passing out...

Lord help me if I put him in a pram! You'd think he was being tortured! But, yes, he loves lots of noise. And for me to bounce around the room like I'm doing cardio.

😂Maybe you should try a bouncy sling? At least you'd have your hands free?
