Toddler leg pain

Tonight when putting my 2 year old to bed, he all of a sudden randomly started crying that his leg was hurting him. He pointed to his knee and shin and was limping on it when trying to walk. This episode lasted around 5 minutes and then he said it had gone and began walking normally and managed to fall asleep.
I am now spiralling thinking there could be something really wrong, has anyone else experienced anything like this with there toddler/child? Or should I be getting him to the drs?

Could be growing pains OP. Both of my boys have these

Probably growing pains. Two of mine had this. They can be really painful. I used to give Calpol to them which helped.

Has he recently had a virus or a cold. Many years ago I took my dd aged 4 to the GP as she was crawling at home due to leg pain. I was so worried but the Dr asked if she had recently had a cold because sometimes that’s how it ends. I was thinking childhood arthritis and all the worst but she had had a series of colds that February. She is 29 today and absolutely fine.

Aww thank you so much everyone for your reassuring comments!
Maybe it was abit of cramp or growing pains. It went off quickly but then he was sick during the night so going to keep an eye and if he complains of it again get him in at the docs! Not sure if the 2 things are related or just coincidence!

I’d assume it’s just a cramp or growing pains. If it becomes an ongoing issue and especially if he’s feverish or very tired over several days to weeks, get it checked. Mine had very painful legs, but also a fever, rash and was very fatigued, like I’d find him randomly asleep on the floor somewhere (at 4, long after he gave up naps). He was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. A one off pain though is probably nothing.
