Retraining options for better work-life balance after kids

Retraining for work life balance? Mums any advice for options to provide work life balance. Previous career (losely project management) no longer appeals. I'm an all rounder, good at maths and excel but no specific IT/ coding experience. Not wanting to spend loads on retraining but not concerned about finances in the meantime/ low starting salary. Not teaching/ caring/ nursing. Any experiences welcome.

Ideas to start from home also welcome (we have outside space)

What are you good at and what do you love doing?

Dh and I have generally always had good work life balance. I’m a clinical researcher and lecturer and Dh is self employed in a trade. I’m not working at the moment due to cancer, but when I was one or both of us was always home by 3pm. I worked from home 95% of the time. Dh wfh 4 days a week (his employees are on site but he doesn’t need to be to manage the work). Both PT.

I’m retraining to do some freelance consulting work related to my area of expertise. Again will be from home and PT. Our household income is over £100k. Good work life balance is out there, but you need to utilise your skills and your networks and probably be self employed. What do people who leave your industry tend to do?

They tend to set up their own company, but it's niche and applies predominantly to the London property market. I left the area and had become disillusioned with the sector (too much emphasis on sales).
I'm very organised and hands on, but wouldn't say I have a particular specialism unfortunately!

Not retraining but I got a professional services job at an RG university when I was having children and just stayed, and it's great 👍 so flexible, pay is alright, good benefits. Hoping to stay in similar roles while my children are young!
