Allergy to formula milk

Hi, my newborn granddaughter is allergic to formula milk, tried three different one, Kendamil, cows, and also goats and prescription type aptamil. My daughter has not got enough milk to satisfy her, which is why she was doing both formula and expressing from the breast. So is there anybody out there who has had the same problem, and how they overcame it please. Would be most grateful if anybody could tell me, what she should do next. Thank you in advance , a concerned Grandmother

Which allergy milk is she on? They’re not all the same.

What are the symptoms which make you think it’s an allergy?

She is on the aptamil Pepto from birth and came out in a rash after 3 feeds

I would go GP for a prescription formula

I can’t remember which brand now but the one that finally worked for DD was an organic one

That's the prescription they gave my daughter aptamil Pepti, but she's also allergic unfortunately, they just say use breast milk, but she just hasn't got enough, it runs in the family I think. I couldn't and neither could my mother unfortunately??

Lactation consultant for advice could be the best option now, i struggled for the first 6 weeks but built up enough supply by then. Pumping isn’t as efficient as breastfeeding so advice I was given was to feed both sides then pump both sides, tiring but it worked

There are different levels of allergy milk. Some still have some cow's milk in them but broken down. Doctors try those first as the ones truly dairy free have other problems (taste horrible so babies don't drink enough, very thin so cause reflux, which then also needs medicating, plus they have a lot of additives to make them creamy like milk).

She needs to go back to the GP and have another milk prescribed.

Also check for tongue tie, it can affect the latch so they don't feed as well. My supply was fine but could never get enough from pumping. Lactation consultant and nag the doctor until you find the correct formula.
