Family visit

Can I get a bit of advice?
I have a 2yo and a 4 month old. 4 month old is exclusively breast fed and is up multiple times during the night. Has been since about 2 months old so I'm permanently knackered!
My husband's parents live a 4 hour drive from us and he wants us all to go and stay with them for a week. I'd have to do the driving to them and the sleeping arrangements there aren't great. He is also going to go away for a couple of days with his dad, leaving me with the kids and in-laws. Is it bad if I don't go and stay home with my 4 month old where I feel more comfortable feeding and sleeping and entertaining in my own environment and let my husband take our son to go and visit his family?

Just because somebody wants something doesn't mean you are obligated to provide it. Driving that knackered with 2 dc probably isn't safe anyway.

Nopity nope.

him taking your eldest sounds a grand idea

I take it he doesn't drive?
In which case, he doesn't get to make this plan unless you are completely on board with it.
Just say no. When they're older. When they're sleeping and you're not exhausted. Whatever. But not now. No.

If you're not getting at least 6 hours' of solid sleep, I wouldn't be driving. Driving whilst sleep deprived is ateast as dangerous as driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Husband goes with toddler
for a few nights only. I wouldn’t be apart from my toddler for a week
