long story short! I fell out with a friend about 5 years ago and he turned very nasty towards me.
my son and him was very close my son is now 17. I found out they was speaking about three years ago and explained the situation openly to my son about why I didn't want this person back in our lives.

I spoke to the ex friend to say I found it strange why he was talking to my son as we had fallen out. when I spoke to him my son was around 14 years old and I told him to keep away which obviously hasn't happened.

my son told my daughter last night that he is meeting up frequently with my ex friend and all the stories hes told about me (which are not true)

please no judgement my son is 17 i can't tell him what to do or who not to speak to anymore (hes nearly 18) I've expressed how I feel about this person so many times and told him its strange how hes always wanted to talk to my son

I just feel betrayed the thought of him and my son slagging me off over stuff that isnt true is breaking me. I'm trying to stay strong and hope my son realises for himself that it is a strange relationship for him to have but I feel betrayed by my son.
also don't want to bring the situation up about me knowing as he will then know his sister has told me.

sorry not sure what advice I'm looking for just haven't got anyone to talk to about it so any reply is appreciated

An Ex-friend or ex-boyfriend? How long was he in your kids life?

Tbh at 14 I would have likely reported him for grooming or similar. It's not normal for an adult to strike up a secretive friendship with a kid.

At 17 I'm not sure, if I were you I would want to see DS's phone and the messages. You need to have an honest chat with your son about what has gone on here. It's worrying that you haven't known about this for years. Especially if they have been meeting up in person.

You need to understand what sort of relationship this is before you can decide next steps.
