Hi my son is 9 weeks old. Since around 4 weeks he has had a few spots but it’s progressively got worse. Over the last two weeks it’s developed to this which often flares up and down. The heat seems to have made it worse too. I’ve cut out dairy and soy for three weeks and it hasn’t seemed to have made a difference. His neck seems to be pretty red and inflamed. It’s mainly very bumpy/ rough and red. There’s some clear bumps around the chin area. It’s on his forehead, sides of his face, cheeks, chest and neck. He is scratching/ rubbing his skin which is affecting his sleep and is being a lot fussier than usual/ crying more. Any ideas what this could be? Or how to help it. Was given Epimax from doctors 2 weeks ago but doesn’t seems to have made a difference.

Hi, this looks similar to my daughter who had this near enough from birth and the same location. Hers is definitely eczema, we’ve tried all the creams and the only thing that really helps is a hydrocortisone steroid cream that the GP can prescribe (can get from chemists but they’d probably want a prescription for a baby). My daughters turned out to be due to a tree pollen allergy, antihistamines help a bit, I’d see if your GP can refer you for allergy testing. Mine was very reluctant to do so but luckily had private medical insurance through work.

Agree that it could be eczema. My DF’s DS had this and it turned out she was wiping him down with baby wipes, which he was allergic to so it might be worth having a think about what you are washing him in Smile
