DD is turning 3 and wants a pedal bike for her birthday. She already has a balance bike. Any recommendations please?

Frog bikes are amazing, lightweight, our boy learned to pedal in an afternoon. Pedals can also be removed if you want to stay on a balance bike for longer.

One of the best bikes are islabikes. They don't sell them anymore but one can buy them second hand on facebook/ebay. As children grow out of these bikes very quickly one often can get ones that are in very good condition, so you may consider a second hand bike anyway. Early rider is also very good (but very expensive) and they only start at 16in which was too big for our 3 year old. Frog is good but in my opinion not as good as islabikes.

Frog or Isla bikes due to their weight and design. I’d look for one secondhand to save a bit of money, but if you take good care of it, they hold their value and you can re-sell again when outgrown.

We are getting a belter early rider for our DD’s 3rd birthday. Frog and Isla bikes are similar specs. Decathlon do a brilliant 2in1 balance bike and pedal bike that’s only 5.5kg for less than £200 if you are looking for a brand new one.

Most Dutch kids have Woom bikes which are similar spec to the others mentioned here

Islabike cnoc 14, they do a small and a large. Lightest bike we could find for our 3yo. They are not available new but lots on marketplace etc.

Isla Rowntree bought back Islabikes recently, and they are selling new bikes again.

Cnoc 14 would be my recommendation. It will hold its value well. If you can make the initial investment, you’ll have the joy of such a well designed bike, and probably be able to sell in on for 70% of what you paid for it.

Buy new Islabikes Cnoc 14 starter bikes for 3 years+

The Cnoc 14 from Islabikes. Developed and refined over 20 years, providing a fantastic learning experience.
