Have...

  • big boy pants
  • seat for toilet (so i dont lose him down it)
  • potty

Am not planning on doing stickers or anything as i havent for anything else and he normally responds very well to praise.

Have built him up to doing it and he already does some wees and poos on the toilet and potty but am planning on putting pants on him and asking him every 10 mins if he needs a wee or a poo.

Nappies still for nighttime.

Have i got everything? Any tips from successful potty-trainees?!!!!

Aliens Love Underpants, or Dinosaurs Love Underpants - both brilliant picture books which are fun, and very pro-pants... not essentials, but helped us!

Definitly some distractions to keep him on the potty a bit longer. We are on day 4 and we had no accidents to-day, and we went out to playgroup - she went on the big 'strange' toilet there - no problem.

But over the four days we now have a baby library, pictures on the walls, bangles on the radiator pipe....anything to just for her to stay put long enough to do the business. She is a busy little lady.

Be prepared for endless no-show visits the first couple of days. By to-day every visit had a result, but the little minx milked my patience big time at the start.

Also i would stongly advise to write down the times, he goes, whether he needed prompting, when he has an accident etc.

You'll be able to see very quickly what his pattern is, and not have to nag him to death.

My dd goes pretty much every 45 mins in the morning and every 1hr 15 in the afternoon. She also has had two naps over 2 hrs and woke with a dry nappy!!! It meant i was happy to take an hour long trip to the shops on day 3.

A special teddy soap and yellow (fav colour) facecloth (her special towel) has made the endless handwashing a bit more fun too.

Very best of luck.
