Worried about friendships

My daughter is in year 1 in primary school and really doesn’t seem to have made any friends in her year. When I ask who she plays with she usually says her older sibling or a younger family friend in reception.

if we chat about her class she seems content and knows things about the kids but just doesn’t seem interested in being friends with them! She’s always happy to go to school and has never mentioned feeling left out/lonely but I’ve even noticed at class parties etc she seems to be playing by herself.

in your experiences is this normal? Should we be working to encourage more friendships or is it likely to work itself out? I’m really worried but she seems happy to I’m trying not to panic!

similar experiences welcome, my son was the complete opposite at the same age!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It'd not unusual, don't worry about it. Things will change as your daughter moves on in school.
