Dad now unemployed - does he still pay child maintenance?

Child maintenance said Dad was to pay CM. After various objections from Dad he has not paid anything yet and now said he is unemployed. How does CM work now? Will he still pay something?

£7 a week if he gets benefits. The system absolutely sucks.

Depends on contact hours too. I get £6.20 because the court order said 50:50, which he didn’t do.

Did they not look at what CM said they should be paying?

CM is based on income. If he is genuinely unemployed, the CMS doesn’t consider him able to pay what was calculated based on his former income. If you believe he’s lying about being unemployed or hiding income, you can request a reconsideration.
