Advice please - 28mth ds won't sit on potty or toilet

We started training yesterday. DS keeps saying he doesn't want a nappy on so thought we would be ok. Made a big fuss, bought underpants, star chart and sweets but ds will only sit on potty for a short time whilst fully dressed. We went nappy free today but ds will not sit down! Tried on the toilet as well but still not happy. Should we forget it for a while? Advice please.

bribery worked for us...one choc button for sitting, 3 for doing something.

Also i put potty in front of tv at first too.

Ds uses a toilet seat on the big toilet, so he feels like a big boy. I sit on the floor beside him and read books with him.

A few weeks ago he was in the bathroom with me as I was on the toilet
, he brought one of the books to me and the positions were reversed...rofl

we have resorted to the potty in front of the tv too, and then we invested in a house of leva double loo seat- it has the training seat fitted in so it can be lifted on its hinge out of the way when someone want to use the proper size seat underneat.
Easy to fit and easy to use for littlies too.
They are a little costly, but if you go to any of the baby shows and go on the last day, they knock them down to £20

Maybe buy a book for him to read while on the potty.

With ds I bought
this

and kept it by the toilet. It was inspiring for him to read while seated on the potty and made sitting there more interesting too...

took me at least a week to persuade him to sit on it (with all bribery suggested here).
