Not responding to name

My almost 11 month old doesn’t really respond to name seems to be focused on other stuff and im
worried
he babbles, smiles , laughs loads with my partner , likes peek a boo and smiles and people that give him attention etc . He claps if we do , he tries to share toys with us but he isn’t great at responding to his name .
he crawls and can pull himself up only today on certain furniture
is this a worry the lack
if name thing ? Anyone else had the same

He’s 10 months old and responds to everything else so I wouldn’t be worried, if he doesn’t start responding in the next 2 months I’d contact the health visitor for advice

@ToKittyornottoKitty thank you. Would
you expect by 12 months to be responding more consistently ?

Is he responding to sound at all? I would check this, so if you clap loudly behind him does he hear it, does he respond to something if he is not looking at you. If not then get his hearing checked.

OP this isn’t a symptom of autism. Are you getting help for your anxiety? You are constantly worried about his perfectly normal development and that’s not healthy for you or him.

Do you use one name consistently, or nicknames/pet names? My DS2 is 18m old and responds really well to one of the pet names we use but less responsive to his actual name, and I think that's because he hears the pet name much more often and maybe hasn't fully connected the dots yet. We keep his real name in rotation but as he's responding well to other things I'm not super concerned.

11m feels quite early to be worrying about this, and especially to be worrying about autism. If anything surely it would be more about getting his hearing tested to make sure he is hearing well. If he's responding well to other sounds I personally wouldn't be super concerned at this stage.

Don’t be daft, this is perfectly normal for a 11 month old, are you getting help for your anxiety? I say this with two autistic children!

I was referred for hearing problems as a baby - once there the specialist said there is nothing wrong with her, she just doesn’t want to look 🤣🤣 Basically CBA with this silly woman clicking her fingers round my head 🤣🤣🤣

I have no problems and your kid sounds fine too. He probably just has selective hearing (may come in useful one day)

My nearly two year old still does this. I think she’s just ignoring me 😂 she always responds If I say ‘X, would you like an ice lolly’ if that’s the only thing I really wouldn’t worry
