i asked SIL what she would like as a gift for her new baby (not here yet) and she said reusable nappies

i didnt use them myself (didnt know they existed when my babies were little!) but SIL asked me if i thought they were a good idea and i said absolutely so i have offered to buy them for her as a new baby gift

please could you advise me on what sizes to buy and how many etc and what brand is good

and should i wait til baby is born and then rush out? ie wait to see weight of baby ?

Also, it is worth finding out if there is a council incentive scheme for reusables. It depends where she lives, but your sil may be able to get cash back or some other special deal on nappies.

I'd second the advice to get some moltex eco disposables for the first few weeks. Then Babykind.co.uk does trial packs where you can choose which nappies you want to try, use the nappies, and then send ones you don't get on with back for a 70% refund. Top stuff. If you do want to get her something, then reusable wipes are good - use them instead of normal baby wipes with some water, and they're much better for getting off poo. She'll also need a big net bag and a bucket with a lid - not very glamorous, but essential. And then if she doesn't want to do reusables, she can still use the wipes as flannels etc, and the net bag for washing jumpers, socks etc.
