Okay so I dont think im a mean mother but jesus christ...I remember growing up and my birthdays weren't a big thing, a present or two, a few cards and maybe a party until I was about 10. I never at any point said to my parents 'what are we doing fir my birthday' my kids are 15 and 17 now and im 48!!! Im so over planning bloody stuff for myself let alone them...for their birthdays!! Every single year ive had sleepovers...meals...trips away...surprises...themeparks...holidays. im old and tired and think anything they want to do now is on them! Am I just being a miserable old cow. Today is my DD birthday and ive organised a surprise meal for her...I actually just want to sit in my bra and pants. When do we get to just not organise stuff?? Its my birthday tomorrow and ive got washing and shopping to do..haha

I don’t think I organised a party for DS after he left primary school. After that he usually had a few mates round until he was 15-16, then organised his own parties at ours or out and about until he went to uni.

I need to use your reply as a kick in my arse! No more planning from me from now on

Mine are all adults now and we usually go out for a nice meal and I still make them a cake! Buy a few little presents and give them some money. To be fair, they do make an effort for my birthday too.
