Ring 111 for advice.

ThreeRandomThings · 30/05/2026 23:10

You must ring 111 immediately. Are you talking about calpol six plus? That's 2x stronger than infant calpol so 5ml is the equivalent of 10ml of the standard calpol, which is a lot more than an 18month old should be having.

Decacaffeinatednow · 30/05/2026 23:13

You need proper medical advice.
How did you give her Calpol 6+?

Ring 111. They are used to this. They'll probably want to know her weight. A friend used to work for 111. They got calls like this quite often and it was usually ok..

How did this happen?

ring 111

they’ll ask for her age and weight
Exactly what was administered and when
The strength
what Their symptoms are

They may give advice to observe over the phone or they may say bring to hospital immediately.

in the future I’d ensure I had the correct medication in for the correct age and also maybe note down the time they were administered so you don’t potentially overdose.

I can imagine your feeling anxious and overwhelmed and stressed even before this happened so don’t beat yourself up just find a solution next time.

MyLovingBear · 30/05/2026 23:38

ahe not well at the minute I’m overtired didn’t read the bottle probably. I’m so stupid. She is happy enough sitting here like laughing and giggling away at ms Rachel

Have you called 111 yet? You really need professional advice with this

Decacaffeinatednow · 30/05/2026 23:40

I meant how come you gave her calpol 6+? Is there a child that age in the house?

MyLovingBear · 30/05/2026 23:41

Yes I have a 13 year old he won’t take tablets so the six plus is what he will take when he needs

My husband and I accidentally gave our DD a double dose once by one forgetting to tell
the other we had already given it. The advice from 111 was based on the full 24 hours so as long as you haven’t gone over that it’s usually ok but obviously you need to call and ask advice. A medic will call you back.

MyLovingBear · 30/05/2026 23:44

Oh thank you you give me a bit of hope just so scared right now she seems okay happy and laughing away. Drinking a lot of juice
