Depressed never getting a break

Im feeling so depressed never getting a break from my kids. I can’t explain how much happier I would have been to get every other weekend to myself! All the single mums I know get eow free which might not seem like a lot but that would be loads to me. It’s starting to depress me. They’d also be happier. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I’m a single mother without that but my son has a big sister on his dad’s side. She’s older in her twenties and my son stays there once a week. With her family too and I’m so grateful for that. I think I’d go insane without that one night to myself a week. Do you have any family you could ask?

My family won’t help, I would ask if they would but they won’t sadly so that’s not an option here

Also what baby sitters look after kids for the weekend? Imagine that would cost an absolutely fortune im not talking about a couple of hours to myself

I'm sorry their Dad(s) aren't involved op, it must be really hard having no real time to yourself.

How odl are they? Are they in school yet?

Do they go to school? Do you work? Could you book the odd annual leave day when there're at school?

aAaAaAaAhh · 28/05/2026 00:27

Yes they go to school, I am working then and spend all day on my feet so that’s not a break, I was more just venting and asking if anyone can relate

Is there anyway you could condense your hours to get even a half day early finish? Just to carve out a little time for yourself?

Peonies12 · 29/05/2026 09:02

That is so hard. Can you use any of your leave to take a day off whilst they're at school?
