Help with toddler and baby evening routine

I have a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. Toddler has a solid routine that we don’t deviate from. So far baby has been pretty much going with the flow, contact naps/pram naps on the go. I bath him in the day and when the toddler is at nursery. I want to start getting baby into a proper routine now, including a bed time routine but I don’t know how to juggle it all as his wake windows don’t always coincide with toddler’s routine.

Please share your foolproof evening routines to help me figure out the logistics! Thank you!

I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old and I have just always done their evenings on the same schedule and planned around that really!

No strict day time routine I just follow his wake windows so it changed based on when he wakes up for the day but they tend to be 2-2.5 hours and he naps wherever we are at a nap time, often in the pram or if at home then in the crib. Baby finishes his last nap at about 5pm then I do dinner, some play time/books, both in the bath at 6:30 and then into PJs and bedtime for both for about 7:15. May not be perfect for others but it works really well for us!

It sounds like your toddler has a great routine, and the baby is happy but a bit more hit and miss (as you'd expect at this age). In all honesty, I wouldn't rock the boat. A disrupted bedtime routine for your toddler could mean you all get a hell of a lot less sleep. I'd wait until baby is closer to a year with a more predictable bedtime and just continue to contact nap in front of the telly until then if it's working.

Can you not do one after the other? Long I know!
