why wont he poo in the potty??

My nearly 3 yr old is quite happy using his potty to wee without any prompting or reminding and hardly has any accidents, we've only been potty training for a couple of weeks. But he wont poo on his potty?? He just does it where he's stood...literally! Ive tried explaining to him 2 try 2 use his potty and even told him he will get special treats if he does but nothing works....he's done it twice (so he knows he should) but more often than not doesnt. Anybody any ideas??

my ds did exactly the same- only we had to put a nappy on just for the poo! He eventaully just worked it out- we did congrats when he did it by accident and promised treats if he managed it - joys of shouting 'Mummy I can have a train for doing a pooh!' in toyshop. Just give him time - I lool back now and just smile about it - It will come just dont pressure him

BOTH my dc were the same. It took quite a few weeks for them to master poos. By the end of the few weeks I was just binning some of their pants as I was sick of washing them out! Sorry, you will just have to grin and bear it and of course go massively OTT if he poos in the potty, no matter how teeny or how intentional

my dd does the same- she has mastered wee's perfectly But she poohs in her pants though!!
I have tried encouragement, gentle reproach- now on full blown bribery to see if she does anything
She only poohs every 2/3 days though- so is getting quite constipated holding it in. are trying to get more fibre and water inside her to make it easier for her
