Board games- recommendations

DD is really into board games at the moment. She has now mastered taking turns, waiting her go and winning !
So far we have played Snakes and Ladders, Uno (slightly adapted), Snap, various Orchard Toy games and Cariboo. She also enjoys things like Hanging Monkeys, Fishing game (names escapes me), Kerplunk, Buckeroo etc.
Any recommendations for more board games like Snakes and Ladders.
Many thanks.

"Sorry" is a real classic. It takes a certain level of maturity, as your opponent can send your counter right back to the start.

Headbandz is really good, I know it's not a board game but it's really fun

Guess Who?

Bought Headbandz for a friend's dc who gave it the thumbs up.

Give me a minute & I'll think of a few more.

Cadoo is brilliant

Guess Who used to be a fab game when I was a kid but have noticed that the recent edition is disappointingly flimsy.

Junior Monopoly is great.

Also Cariboo

Pop Up Pirate is also fun.

Orchard Games - Spotty Dogs is great too

tigermeow · 21/06/2008 21:44

We have Rush Hour Jr...she loves that. Cadoo sounds a lot of fun.

Thanks for the (very quick) recommendations. I feel a trip to a toyshop coming on! I'll take DD with me and she can choose from some of your recommendations...she is only just 3 btw.

Thanks again,

DD is 3.6 and her favourite game is hiss
It's a card game not a board game.

This is my favourite of the DCs games because it's actually easier for the children than the adults so it's a challenge to play with them (in the way that the matching pairs memory game is easier for children, it requires that you pay attention in a particular way)

tigermeow · 21/06/2008 22:14

Hiss looks excellent... she is in a snake phase at the moment so it would be ideal...have added it to amazon basket!

Everytime people play Hiss at our house they really enjoy it. We have bought loads of copies as gifts.
