Teething advice when nothing seems to settle

My 6 month old has been extra fussy the last few weeks, but really bad for almost a week now. Crying, clinging and awake every hour at night. Yesterday nothing would settle him. We've been using nurofen and anbesol after trying teethers, powders and gels. Anbesol seems to provide relief fairly quickly but doesn't last long. It also says not to use it for more than 7 days each teething episode. It's coming up to 7 days now with no sign of a tooth, so what am I supposed to do now? 😂 Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Mine has always had teething symptoms but no teeth! Then teeth have randomly appeared at other times with no symptoms. I coslept to get better nights; and got outside in the day as that seemed to help with distraction. Cold cucumber and celery sticks always helped!

His gums do look white and feel a bit harder in a couple of places, but I've felt like that for a while now! I do get out every day or I go crazy, but at the minute he's so clingy he's even making it difficult to get ready to leave the house. I feel like I've gone back to the newborn stage! Thanks, I'd heard celery but forgot about it actually. I'll give those a try.

Is it the Anbesol liquid? The gel is crap in comparison.

You just go through it. Each day you get through is a day closer to it stopping, and him getting over whatever is currently making him unsettled. Yes it’s very hard work, but as long as he’s not actually ill, it’s just something that you help him through and survive the best you can. Co sleeping, having a baby to DH as soon as he walked in the door and meeting up with friends as a distraction did help.

Yes, the liquid. It doesn't help that he hates me touching his gums at the minute. It does seem to help almost immediately, but like I said just doesn't last long.
