Do your five year olds do this?

I suppose I’m asking if it’s normal as I hate it!

DS age five … if he wants one of us (either me or dad) will stand and BELLOW Mummy or Daddy. If I answer it isn’t good enough - have to go to him. It’s a nightmare if it’s DH he wants because DH seems to be able to tune DS out better so he won’t respond and DS will be bellowing DADDYYYYY DADDYYYYYYY for ages.

It absolutely does my head in - is it normal 🤦🏼‍♀️ and do they grow out of it?

He won’t naturally grow out of it if it gets the response he wants.

He needs clearly telling it’s inappropriate behaviour and guiding towards a different approach. With escalating consequences if he doesn’t listen. Definitely make sure it never gets the result he’s looking for.

Well of course I have done that - he has been told it isn’t acceptable and I have firmly told him this and so on but still it continues. I am wondering about adhd for ds (this is one of many things!) which is why I’m wondering how normal it is!

If he’s possibly not understanding or changing his behaviour, how does he score on this progress checker?
