Neocate experience?

Docs and ourselves are pretty sure baby has a Cows milk allergy (CMPA) - baby was breast fed for a week but I had to stop as I was readmitted to hospital several times and it was too much for me, so he has been formula fed on Kendamill for the past 7 weeks. We noticed lots of mucus in poo pretty much as soon as he changed over. Docs kept telling us it was nothing to worry about until more recently when he’s been screaming on his bottle and we saw black mucus in his poo. 2 days ago he was put on Neocate. Day 1 was amazing and thought a miracle had happened, no crying on bottle and drank all his bottles and wanted more. Which is unheard of! Today however, it was back to crying and he didn’t finish any of his bottles. Took an hour to feed 3oz. So feeling a bit confused. His poos do look slightly better but I know it will take a bit longer on that front! Any experience / advice?? We’ve been back and forth to doctors - losing our minds a bit at this point!

Does he have any reflux/silent reflux issues? Is his latch ok? Are you pausing to wind him?

We did use neocate a bit to top up breast feeds but DS wasn’t keen so we didn’t use it a lot. We found gaviscon and rinitidine helped ds (for reflux) and we tilted his cot too.
Ds out grew his milk allergy around 6 ish but most kids outgrow it before they are 4.
