Baby teeth eruption

Feeling a bit worried about my 15mo DD’s teeth

She’s still missing her upper lateral incisors which google says should be through by 13 months

But even more strangely she has got only 1 of her bottom lateral incisors, it came through about a month ago with no sign of the other one

Meanwhile she’s suddenly got molars erupting

So she has 5 teeth at the front of her month, 2 on top and 3 on the bottom

I think I might have some health anxiety but my first DD followed the book when it came to teeth and I keep worrying the teeth won’t come

We have a dentist appointment next month

Can I ask if this is normal or should I be worried?

My second’s came through in an odd order and all much later than the books said. I thought he was never going to get his bottom canines. Dentist wasn’t worried. I think when it’s your second you naturally compare with you first and if your first was textbook and you are prone to anxiety then you’ll naturally worry more.

Normal; they don’t necessarily come through in order. If this is genuinely worrying you, please consider getting some counselling as this isnt a normal thing to worry about.

My brother was toothless until nearly 18 mths! I've seen the photos.. as an adult he's got a lovely row of pearly whites..

I do feel genuinely worried. I think it’s strange she just has 1 bottom lateral incisor and now is suddenly getting her molars before she has the other. Is this definitely normal?

They don’t necessarily read the instruction manual.

I have one child - sorry, this may not help your anxiety 😬 - who is missing 3 adult teeth. Like they just don’t exist, never formed. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She is going to have to try to hang on to her baby teeth as long as possible or else she just won’t have 3 teeth and may need some sort of cosmetic dentistry as an adult if there is space.

Your dentist will be able to reassure you. They will likely be able to see them in the gum.

Yes this is one of the things I’m worried about

When her teeth started erupting she had like chalky white marks on them and it turned out it was because I had been ill in pregnancy when they were forming (I was very sick with HG and I also had the flu badly at 39 weeks) and it’s filled me with so much guilt and anxiety about her teeth. I feel like it’s my fault, my eldest teeth are perfect, I feel like if I’d taken better care of myself maybe things could have been different.

My DD15 months has had teeth come through in all sorts of orders, she has all 4 first molars but no bottom lateral incisors and her upper lateral incisors came through months apart. I'm not worried they dont all follow the book and can be different.

Teeth come in the wrong order all the time.

Even in the very unlikely case that something is wrong, there is nothing you can do except take very good care of the teeth she does have. It's good you are seeing the dentist. Brush her teeth morning and evening. Avoid feeding to sleep.

My baby molars came late and then never fell out. I had quite a lot of issues as they started decaying in my late teens through no fault of my own. I had quite a few dentist trips and eventually a couple of root canals. Three are gone completely as the decay just got too bad by my late 20s (baby teeth are quite soft) and I have implants. They weren't the most pleasant of dentist visits and I was a few thousand pounds poorer ( I had to pay private) but I was and am totally fine. Late 30s and no issues. Dentistry has come a very long way. She'll be fine.

This can be normal, my daughter has three at the bottom from November, her molars started coming through a couple of months ago and that other lateral incisor suddenly started coming through a few weeks ago (so after the molars started). It'll be there :)
