I am planning a trip to cornwall for the early may bank holiday with my 2.5 year old toddler. We will be digging sand on beaches and lots of walking along the coast. Please can you advise on what to dress him in as I don’t know if the weather will be sunny or rainy (can be both) and I think it will be windy. TIA

I’ve always put mine in a shorty wetsuit (few £ on vinted) and a fleece over the top. Keeps the worst of the wind off them and a little bit warmer than a swimming costume alone.

Early May anywhere in the UK I think you’ll need to be prefer for warm sun and cold wind & rain. I’d take an all in one puddle suit and wellies for cooler weather as well as a wetsuit for warmer weather.

Definitely wetsuit. They’ll stay warm in the sea, won’t get irritated by sand everywhere all the time and you won’t need to worry about sunburn - just do their face. My two DCs lived in theirs in our Cornwall holidays when they were small.

Yes definitely a wetsuit for the beach in early May, it may be lovely and warm but could also be very breezy.

I think you'll need to check the weather forecast right before you go specific to the area you are going to as the weather can be different on the north coast vs south coast at the same time.
