Help needed - Baby Rash

Hello Everyone,

Ive created this account to seek help as we are running out of ideas as to the cause of the rash pictured below on our 6 month old son.

The rash has been present, on and off, since December. Just when we think we have solved the mystery it seems to return or flare up. The rash is blotchy and seems to be mildly itchy. It’s predominantly on his belly and neck but at one point it did extend to his arms and legs. The rash is not visible when pressed with a glass.

We do not think it’s milk allergy related. We did initially suspect a cows milk allergy when he was 1-2 months old and we moved to neocate amino acid milk which he has been on since. However he was recently tested for allergies and all came back negative (cod, whole egg, milk, soya bean, wheat and peanut).

We have been to the doctors several times and been given creams (Aveno, hydromol, steroid cream) to try which haven’t really helped, plus we don’t really want to use steroid cream if we can help it. We have bought creams online that people have recommended (cetaphil) and although it’s taken some of the dryness away it hasn’t worked either. We have changed washing powder and looked out for trends that might indicate the cause but to no avail.

Next step is Dermatologist but I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and might be able to help?

Thanks,

Will the GP let you try an infant antihistamine?

Honestly I think you will need a dermatologist.
