Is there a separation anxiety peak around 17mo? Upset DD.

For the past couple of weeks, DD has been upset when being dropped off at nursery. At first she was able to be calmed after about 15 mins and then went on to have a good day. But this week, apparently she’s been a bit upset on and off throughout the day.

Could this be a peak of separation anxiety? She has just turned 17mo. I’m finding myself getting quite nervous throughout the day before hearing what her day has been like at pick up. I’m worried as to if/when this will end.

Is this just a phase? I don’t think she’s unwell. She did have some pain 2-3 weeks ago with her molars - they still haven’t pierced through but we could see and feel them and the movement must have been upsetting her. But I’m not sure that’s the issue now?

I'd say molars. My 18 month old is like that when he's unwell or about to be. It's always obvious in hindsight. Give her some calpol before you leave home.

I would say the same, what about ibuprofen just before nursery?

I can definitely try that. But DD isn’t at all upset or distressed at home, wouldn’t she be if it was teething?
