Strange behaviour with fever

DD, almost 4 woke up with a stomach bug this morning. She’s slept on and off today, but kept some food down this afternoon and has been drinking. Spiked a temp and said her ear hurt so gave her calpol and put her to bed at 7.

Heard her laughing over the baby monitor, have gone in and she’s sweating and.. laughing. It has really creeped me out. I did sit her up and gave her a drink and she’s gone off to sleep again but is that normal when they have a fever? She’s never done that before.

Yes, it can be. They can get loopy and hallucinate. Assuming you are managing the fever (it’s not currently 40c for example), then it’s fine. Just one of those things. Sickness can also trigger night terrors, but I don’t think that’s what this was.
