Sensory seeking behaviour

Hi there! My son is 4 years old and is a sensory seeker. We are doing primitive reflex therapy and a few supplements for 2 months now but this does not seem to be working. Would you have any advice? Also, will this sensory seeking behaviour disappear?

Very, very unlikely to disapear its probably likely he has sen needs?

I assume that you are paying for the therapy. If you haven’t already done so I’d get a specialist OT assessment for SPD.
There’s a really good book The Out of Synch Child Has Fun. Lots of activities using items around the home.
Please be careful with supplements. Who advised giving those?

This is a recent behaviour. Start about 4 months ago. He does not have a typical SEN profile. I saw a few doctors already. Also , even if he was SEn, these kids also have neuroplasticity.

Thanks! The supplements were recommended by a private nutritionist.

What do you mean by ‘sensory seeking’? What’s he doing?

dairydebris · 21/02/2026 16:55

Every single human displays sensory seeking behavior. Its how we get what we want from the world we live in.
I display sensory seeking behavior many times a day, looking for treats to eat, smelling nice flowers, listening to music to help me get on with chores, working out to feel my muscles etc.

What exactly do you think is odd behavior?

Overthebow · 21/02/2026 17:01

What sort of behavior?

Pancakeflipper · 21/02/2026 17:03

We all sensory seek.
What is it he is doing that has led you to therapy and supplements?
