When to drop 11:30pm feed?

Hi all,

First time Mum my little one is 3 1/2 months old.

On Monday we changed this Mam bottle teats to size 2’s as he began falling asleep on the bottle and he’s now drinking 6oz per feed not 5 since we changed.

He hasn’t been weighed officially since Jan, but using our home scales me holding him we think he’s about 14lbs

Current feeding routine is as follows -
Feed 1 - 7:30am when he tends to wake up
Feed 2 - 11am
Feed 3 - 2:30pm
Feed 4 - 5:30pm
Feed 5 - 8:30pm (after this we put him to bed)
Feed 6 - 11:30pm (we wake him up for this)

Since going to 6oz he’s only managing like 3/4oz of his 11:30pm feed and not really seeming interested. It’s like he’s trying as it’s there, but he’s struggling with it.

My partner was wondering whether we try and drop the 11:30pm feed, but I’m also scared to try and drop it incase it disrupts his sleep and he’s still so young.

He’s never awake at 11:30pm we always have to wake him for it. Then when we put him back to bed, he instantly goes back to sleep, then wakes around 7:30am sometimes he’s goes to 8am and he wakes up happy and smiling.

what would people’s thoughts be on this?
My concern is if we drop it, he’s then only on the same amount of food per day as he was on 5oz bottles so 30oz.

Thanks

I never wake for a feed after the get back to birth weight assuming there are no weight concerns. They cry when they want to eat.

You could try dropping it avd see how you get on?

I have two children my youngest currently 14 weeks and once they were back at birth weight I’ve never woken for a feed, they will tell you when they are hungry.

I would never be waking a baby for a feed, unless underweight and advised by HV/GP. If 11:30pm is when you go to bed, I’d do a dream feed. Sleep goes pretty tits up between 4-6 months, so if this means you are getting a full night of sleep, I’d keep doing it while it’s working. Or shift earlier if you want to go to bed earlier.

As long as a baby is putting on weight don't wake them x

I wouldn't wake. 4 month regression is looming so enjoy that amazing sleep for now!

Mine dropped theirs around 4 months old. They wouldn’t take more than an ounce and seemed annoyed at being woken up. That’s when we dropped it and they slept through.

thanks all - as of today we’ve dropped back to 5oz, as he’s been a bit fussy, and being sick sometimes after 6oz. Would you still recommend to drop the 11:30pm feed? And then he may be better on 6oz?
