Illness just after HFMD?

My 3 yr old has just in the last few days gotten over quite bad hand foot and mouth, scabs and spots nearly all gone. She now has a cough and runny nose and a mild temp of 37.5, well in themselves though.

I’ve googled and it says its normal but some people saying the cough can last for months!

Has anyone else had the same straight away with their child?

Can’t believe she is ill again! She is also non verbal so she can’t let us know how she feels/if anything is hurting etc

Thank you, did they last for long at all? Think I’m just so burnt out from her being ill and wasn’t expecting round 2 so quickly!

My toddler's snottiness and cough after HFM lasted for about 2 weeks. So all in all about 3 weeks until he was fully recovered and sleeping well again.

It really is the pits! I was prepared for the constant sickness from nursery but I’ve been tipped over the edge this week 😂

My 12 month old is just recovering from HFM and is so snotty and coughing/ temperature. Its been awful and taken ages for spots to heal. Sending speedy recovery!

I had HFM as an adult and it was one of the most unpleasant viruses I've ever had. I needed very regular ibuprofen to manage the pain and I was almost clockwatching for each dose.
Something to think about if your child is non verbal

Thank you, yes we kept her topped up with nurofen/calpol, also oat baths and calamine lotion seemed to help.I am hoping myself and DH don’t get it. Sorry it was so rough for you
