My eldest DS has always been really quiet, shy, a bit geeky (obsessed with the PC, coding, scripting etc), sentimental, quirky (wants to wear eye-liner for school )
etc etc...
Up until recently he prided himself on being "emo" and worshiped Chemical Romance and all things dark and depressing saying he liked the fact that he was bullied as it showed how individual he was that people singled him out etc!
Anyway last week he was in a karate tournament and won the first fight by 4 points to 0 and almost got into the semi-finals...this is a kid that the lads at school call "Girly", "camp" and "gay" because of how erm...un-laddish he is.
Anyway since this competition he has completely changed. He's joined the football team at school (after insisting that football was only for sheep), went out to shop today in a nike hoodie (wouldnt be seen dead in an item of sportswear a few weeks ago) and has become so bloody hyper and cocky...he litrally cannot sit still, he's back answering (not in a depressed 'leave me alone' way but in a 'what ya gonna go?' way and seems to think he can take on the world. Chemical romance has not been played once this week.
So it just what everyone has been predicting and he's starting to "grow up" and be more like his peers, trying harder to fit in or is it simply the karate comp that has given him a boost of confidence??
