10 month old started vomiting after bottle feeds

Hi All,

My 10 month old has started vomiting after most bottle feeds recently. He has always occasionally burped up vomit if he was particularly fidgety during the feed and probably swallowed some air. However, in the last couple of weeks it's really ramped up. He normally burps up the vomit and it feels like a fair amount although I know that it can seem like more than it is. I wonder if because he's started eating more solids it's just too much milk for him now. Or I do wonder if he's drinking it more quickly (he's definitely started drinking more water with solids so perhaps he's learned to chug better). Has anyone else experienced this? Anything you did that helped or advice on when it may end? It's obviously not nice for him and causing a lot of washing for me!

Have you checked whether the formula you're using has been affected by any of the recent product recalls?

Literally my very first thought.
I read that a lady had experienced issues with a batch not included in the initial recall, only for it to be added. (Sorry not trying to scare monger)

I hadn't considered that. We use kendamil and I have just double checked but I don't think they have been affected by the recall. He seems completely fine and smiley after he vomits it's more like a forceful burp that brings it up/triggers his gag reflex

My friends son had this after lots of vomits and testing, it was lactose intolerance. Try a half bottle of soy or oat milk & see if it stays down?

Cocktailsandcheese · 13/02/2026 18:41

Could be reflux...maybe worth a call to the GP to try some baby gaviscon to see if that helps. But yes, it could also just be that it's too much for his stomach and he doesn't need as much milk now.

ArcticSkua · 13/02/2026 18:43

Could you try giving him formula in a sippy cup and ditch the bottle? He won't be able to gulp it down so fast.

How much milk is he having @BumblebeeG97? I think the recommended amount between 10 and 12 months is 450 mls a day.

Can this develop after 10 months?

He does have silent reflux so he's on a milk thickener but perhaps I need to put in a bigger scoop!

At the moment he won't drink anything but water out of a sippy cup but I'll give it a go

Wow he's definitely drinking a lot more than that! The HV at his 9-12 month check said 24-32 ounces but he probably gets closer to 35 so I think its time to start reducing now he's eating more.

The HV is giving you outdated advice unfortunately. It’s definitely now 450 ml/15floz a day between 10 and 12 months so dropping bottles does sound like a good idea 🙂

If he’s got reflux, is he on a comfort type formula?
