Is this going to scar?

My 4 year old jumped off the sofa and hit my hand on the way down. I thought nothing of it at first but they caught my nail and it scratched in two places. My nails are natural and not particularly long so I assumed it would heal nicely. It didn’t bleed and just looked weepy.

I’ve kept it covered in Vaseline all the time and there was no scab or infection. Two weeks on it looks like this and there is a subtle difference in level between the old and new skin. The patch on the nose is quite large and now I’m worried it’s going to scar. Does anyone have experience with this? I’m pretty anxious about so would really appreciate thoughts from people who have had a similar injury with their kids. Thank you

Chances are it will fade with time. My DD had a large chickenpox scar that looked a bit like that right above her eyebrow but you'd have to know where to look for it to be able to see it now.

Use bio oil twice a day. I had skin cancer removed from my chest last year and the dermatologist consultant said to use it.

@FionnulaTheCooler how long did it take to fade away? I’m still hoping it might improve a bit as it happened two weeks ago.

No

@TikTokker is that based on a similar experience?

I can't remember to be honest, it was over 10 years ago now but most probably over a few months. 2 weeks is very soon, give it more time.
