Scratch from fingernail - is this normal?

My energetic three year old jumped from a chair last week and caught my hand on the way down. My nails are real and fairly short but somehow they managed to cut their face in two places! I thought nothing of it at first and then on closer inspection realised they had quite a wide deep cut near their nose. I kept it moist and used second skin plasters
for a bit. Ten days later it’s healed over without scabbing but is still really red. I think it’s just about level to the surrounding skin but I can see a bit of an edge and am really concerned it’s going to scar. Had this happened to anyone else? I feel super guilty about it and still can’t believe a fingernail scratch could potentially scar their face.

To add, the cuts seem slightly indented if I hold my phone torch to them
