School holiday club search

Fellow parents — can I sanity-check something?
When it comes to holiday clubs, do you find it hard to see what’s available, compare prices, or know which ones are actually good?
Curious if this is a common pain or just my experience.

Local Facebook groups are good. I keep a list on my phone and other parents at school often have recommendations.

Yes! My LA has a list online but it’s incomplete.

The school sends newsletter with ads but only paid for ones. There’s a local mummy blogger who casts the net a bit wider but again incomplete.

There is sooooo much to choose from in my area and I like dc to experience different things

Although I’d add that “good” is quite subjective. For example there is one club in my area that’s fabulous is you like arts and crafts and drama. And another that’s only great when you’re over 8 as they have little electric go karts you can only drive 8+ (nothing worse than being 7.5 and just watching your mates drive the cars!)

They are difficult to even find, let alone compare. That said, when I do find them, I’ve found the websites very clear in terms of days, times and costs.

The thing is they book up so fast that there is really no need to advertise. It’s less about comparing and overthinking and more about just booking as soon as possible. Ours puts the booking platform live on a Tuesday evening at 7pm 4 months before and every slot is booked by 7:04.

Ask the school or on local Facebook groups. You may just simply not have many near you. Ours is the only one that operates every school holiday in about an hour’s drive, so it’s very hot.

yes! Every club releases dates, times and prices at different times so you never know if one if going ahead until they release the info. Some release 6 weeks before some 3 weeks and some I don't even know are running until the last second.

DS is in Year 3 now so I know which ones we usually use, when they usually run and prices so I can pre-empt. But the first year or two it was hard work finding the right clubs for the right holidays.
