Baby carrier/wrap

I need help with buying a baby carrier/wrap.

My Daughter is 8 weeks (if this makes any difference). Can anyone recommend a soft carrier or wrap? I hear the wraps are great, but they look mega confusing to me. I’m really cack handed and can’t be bothered with anything that requires a lot of effort.

grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks

I love a sling! My three are 4, 2 and 10m and I’ve used carriers until too pregnant with the next one, essentially. The youngest still hasn’t been in a pram! 😂

Eldest went in an ergobaby 360 from birth. Middle was tiny, so I bought a soft ergobaby embrace and used that for the first 2-3m. Used it again for a couple of months with the youngest, then onto the 360. The embrace was OK. The 360 is definitely the best bit of baby kit I’ve bought!

I’m sure the soft wraps are amazing too but I’m just so clumsy I felt I wanted something either way clips, and was used to the bigger ergo.

I would look for a sling library near you. Personally, I think wraps are much more comfortable than a carrier, so it may just be you need some support getting the hang of it. Different ones will also fit differently depending on your body composition.

If you are looking a carrier, you want an ergonomic one - ergo baby, manduca, look for similar that position babies legs in an M shape. A moby wrap or similar is great when they are little but really only up to about 12-16 weeks so you are nearly outgrown that now. A close caboo may work for you, though I didn’t find them as flexible as just a normal wrap.

We have the boba sling and it’s amazing! We went to a sling library they tell you how to use one, unsure if that’s just our area or if it’s nationwide?

they’re really easy to use though!

I loved the ergobaby embrace when mine were tiny. We moved onto a integra when they were older. If you go to a sling library you can try some on and hire for a few weeks.
I would ask for proof of purchase if you buy a second hand ergo baby- there are fakes about.

I hated the soft wraps. Waste of money. Baby looked squished, he kept wriggling, it took me ages each time to get it right

Eventually bought a baby bjorn which my son loved. And it took me 5 seconds to put on.

I really rate the Intergra carriers, lovely and soft but structured enough to be easy to use. They were definitely the easiest I ever tried and I tried a lot through my 5 kids babyhood!

My daughter got too heavy for the wrap and it was a gaff by 6wks
