Nighttime nappy advice

Hi

So my baby is 8-month-old and he's an absolute gem that can sleep from 12 to 13 hours a night. Usually this results in him being wet every morning. He's always leaking through but this morning was a new one. His nappy had actually exploded right at the top underneath his belly button resulting in pee-filled gel everywhere.

I really need some advice on what nappies for him to wear at night time because we can't keep doing this. He currently wears size 3 ASDA or Aldi's. He is clearly peeing too much for them at night. I do sometimes find in the day we have leaks as well if he has a nap in the day and he's ended up wearing a nappy for say 2 hours.

Does anyone have any tips and advice please?

Change him when you go to bed and see if that helps

Pampers do a specific night time nappy that's really good. I know people say the supermarket versions are just as good but they really aren't imo.

Thank you but if I wake him up he thinks it's day time. I accidentally woke him last week at about midnight and we were up until 5am 🤦‍♀️

And thank you, I'll have a look at some premium brands. I've been looking for night time specifics but they don't go as small as him

I sized up and went for the pampers extra absorption range. Pricey but lasts the night.

Pampers do a 4+ so I would give them a try.

Have a look at Boots own brand, that's what we always used.

Also make sure he doesn't have a vest on under pyjamas (or if you feel he needs one it's very very loose) - when the nappy fills often vests constrict it and that can add to the risk of the nappy getting damaged

I found the aldi ones much better for this than the pampers night time ones so I don't agree with previous posts that supermarket ones are no good - all depends on the baby, how they move at night, how much they wee and also boys and girls are different! You could put two nappies on to see if that helps

We use Pampers Premium at night as we had the same issue at that age, not that baby was sleeping through but was a massive faff to change in the night. Never had a leak in them! I look out for when they are half price and buy a few packs.

Love the sainsburys ones they hold LOADS. Maybe try and go up a size too? Or buy the + ones as they hold more. Make sure vest isn't too tight as well as that compresses on the nappy and causes leaks

Bitzee · 29/01/2026 10:45

Pampers 4+ and if that still doesn’t solve it try for a stealthy change- no lights and use a sleeping bag/PJs you can undo from the bottom so you can do it in the cot without picking them up or needing to fully undress.

bouncingblob · 29/01/2026 11:23

Try going up a size just for night time.

We use Pampers at night and then cheap supermarket ones during the day.

Sainsbury's nappies are excellent. Never had a problem with them.

Hell would freeze over before I would risk waking a baby that sleeps 12 hours a night 😂

We use pampers night time ones, we get them online.

ChateauProvence · 29/01/2026 18:24

I used to use pampers with their normal size and then a size up over that one so two nappy’s. And now she has huggies night time training ones but I have only seen them in a size 6

Geneticsbunny · 29/01/2026 18:34

I think the plus ones are extra absorbant for night time.

OtterMummy2024 · 29/01/2026 18:54

I use Boots Little Stories bamboo ones for nighttime. Discovered them when my LO had nappy rash and we are still using them but only at night.

Okdaisy · 29/01/2026 18:57

I find pull ups less prone to leaks
