Need better stair gate recommendation asap

Our 11 month old just opened the stair gate... Thank God I was stood next to her so she didn't actually make it to the stairs but when I closed the gate she walked back up and opened it again, so not an unfortunate accident and definitely a deliberate action that could be repeated.

So clearly we need one with a more advanced opening system.

Any suggestions on stair gates that might stump her for a little longer? 11 months is way too young for me to be comfortable with her having access to the stairs. UK based if that's important.

We had one similar to this where you had to squeeze both sides and lift simultaneously which stopped small hands opening it as they didn't have the dexterity to do both actions at the same time.

I'll have to check with MiL for the brand as she bought it for us and it doesn't have a name on it anywhere, but it has a slider at the top which you have to push back and then, with that pushed back, there's a pin at the bottom which you need to lift the gate up to release before it will swing open.

DD (who is quite tall) can reach over the top of the gate to push the slider then pushes the gate up with her body to move the lower pin over the lock.

I've added pictures of the top slider and bottom pin lock.

We fitted a stair gate when DD1 was a similar age and she opened it immediately! They are not all made equal. 🤦‍♀️

We have two different types - a retractable one at the bottom of the stairs and a Lindam one.

Just get a taller one?
