4 month old red and swollen thumb

Hi, the tip of DD’s thumb is red and slightly swollen. If you press on it, it turns white. It’s gotten worse over the last 24/48 hours. She does suck this hand so could it be related to that? Or does it look like paronychia? I’ve scared myself on Google so wondering if anyone has any experience. Many thanks!

Does it seem painful? Does she cry when you squeeze it?

Is it warm to the touch? How does the cuticle area look?

Go to a pharmacy or NHS walk-in centre.

Sorry I know the photos aren’t the best. It seems to just be the underside of her thumb and not related to the nail, her cuticle looks normal. No pain when I squeeze it but it is a bit warm.. can pharmacies prescribe antibiotics if that’s what’s needed?

There isn’t a hair wrapped around it, is there?

It’s a bit late in the day now, but I’d see if a pharmacist would look at it.

That’s a good shout actually, I found one of my hairs in her other hand yesterday. She’s fast asleep now but I’ll have a look when she wakes up. I think I’m reassured though it doesn’t need urgent attention tonight so we’ll find a pharmacy open tomorrow.
