Baby with a cold

So all the recommended treatments for this - namely saline spray and nasal aspiration - seems to presume cooperation, which our DS does not want to offer.

He's only had one cold before but he was tiny then. He's 10 months now and really doesn't like any sort of intervention - not even getting his face cleaned! It makes getting saline spray or a nasal aspirator up the nose essentially an impossibility, short of strapping him down like Hannibal Lector, which obviously we're not going to do.

Are there any other ways to help alleviate his congestion which are less aggressive?

Distraction, distraction, distraction.

And then, if that doesn't work, you do need to hold them down if it's in their best interest. It doesn't have to be aggressive, you can hold them down to tickle them and then you've got them!

It's better to start doing this now at 10 months because obviously the bigger and older they get the harder they protest.
