Head shaking

I wrote a thread earlier that had been deleted. I don’t know why. It wasn’t offensive.

My 8 month old has started shaking his head, I guess the only way to describe it is tilting it back and forth. He does it sometimes to nothing. Sometimes to sound. Is this a developmental trait, or likely to be something else?

At this age it's normal. It's when they still do it when they are much older that there could be a problem. There are a lot of behaviours that are common in autistic children but are normal for babies to do. My son does the head shaking thing and he has autism but he is 17 years old. When he did it at 1 year old it was normal.

My DS used to shake his head left to right lots at that age, it used to get quite violently done a lot of the time. He’d hold onto his high chair and just go for it. He’s 24 now, university educated with decent job, so no damage done.
