I KNOW this is probably normal but has anyone found any strategies to stop their child constantly whining and crying? My DS was a lovely chilled baby but lately cries, moans or whines all day. He hasn’t got many words yet which I don’t think helps. But can I do anything about this or is it just a phase?

He's trying to communicate. Have you taught him any baby sign language? He probably understands more than he can say. Teach him ways to communicate yes and no and then give choices. Do you want food or to go and play? Get some visual activity cards and teach him to point? Always repeat back with words and encourage him to try as well and praise attempts.

He definitely understands a lot, but even asking him what he wants with choices ends up in crying.

Sounds really tough @Pinkstuffs.

If he doesn’t have many words yet, how does he score on this simple progress checker?
