How do you parent?

So we grow up with or without good parenting roles. Have kids ourself and boom, you are expected to know what Carly what to do she different issues come up. I'm the wrong side of 50 so whilst my parents to weren't bad, they certainly had a style that isn't acceptable in this day and age. I have a DD 11 and 9. I'm find it increasingly difficult how to negotiate parenting and wondered how other people manage this?

I think the question is a bit too broad, maybe you could say what specifically you're struggling with? What has been your style over the last 11 years?

Are there any parenting or related books you've read that have resonated with you?

That will give us a better idea of how to answer 😊

I definitely knew what I did and didn't want to take from my parents parenting. And I thought a lot about what did and didn't benefit me in the long run (good and bad). I also think it's important to understand your own values and what's values you want to instill in your family. Gives a good framework.

I’ve made a lot of parenting decisions based on what my parents got wrong. So you know what didn’t work or what wouldn’t work today, so you think about the outcome you want and your individual child and you work back from there.

I'm the opposite of my parents. I try to keep calm. Explain. Reason.

I suppose today's issue is my DD11 has fallen out with her friendship group. I only know her side of things. She's been removed from all group chats so I cannot see what's happened. I feel a bit helpless.
