Fabulous that he is wanting to potty train.

NOT at bedtime.

He can take off sleepsuit.

he can take off poppered vest.

"I did a POO!!" as he hands over the sh*tty nappy.

"Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum!" - he is naked, dry nappy over gate, wee on floor

Oh Flame- its hell isn't it. Thankfully dd's lack of physical prowess means she cannot undo the popper vests- which we had to go back to, because she loves putting her hands down her nappy.

They are delightful aren't they?

micci25 · 12/06/2008 21:45

i used masking tape around dd1's nappy when she was going throughr her stripper phase

Both my DC wrestled down the nappy with tape and all so in the end we put a sleepsuit the wrong way round (poppers at the back) and that solved it for a while...

Flamesparrow · 12/06/2008 21:50

Can't do the sleepsuit backwards - he needs to be able to feel his nipples (typical man... nipple obsessed) The vests have to be slightly large so he can shove his hand down the neck

I used tape too. Wrapped round, made nappies a bugger for me to get off too . Did work though, but needed to use it for a couple of weeks. Other people suggested dungarees, sleepsuits on backwards...

Good luck!

'he needs to be able to feel his nipples'?????
children!
But seriously- I think masking tape sounds good...

MuddlingThru · 12/06/2008 22:13

We used to put ds' grobag on backwards.

Pannacotta · 12/06/2008 22:19

How about putting a popper wrap over his nappy at night? That would stop him getting the nappy off without resorting to gaffer tape?

ButterflyMcQueen · 12/06/2008 22:22

flame ds does this since being dry in day - 4months now

its a nightmare and makes me

i have given up on nappy at nap time tbh at nights not an isse unless wakes early

sorry no advice but maybe their age?

nappyelite · 12/06/2008 23:41

DD decided she wont wear a nappy at all. I put her night nappy on, she ran off to the bathroom laughing, stripped the nappy and wrap off, dumped it in the bucket and shouted wee wee. She hasn't worn a nappy since
I miss my pink cloth, but will make do with DS blue cloth lol.
Definitely go with the duck tape, round the nappy and the wrap, then popper vest over the top (loose so no compression) and duck tape that on lol. Then a suit of armour over the top
Failing that gloves are always an option.

Flamesparrow · 13/06/2008 07:46

Hmmm... he was just wriggling out of the wrap, but if I try a medium rather than a large maybe?

He wees a LOT during the night, so i can't really just leave him to it. Although I suppose the summer would be the best time to try it - can just give him a fleece blanket instead of a duvet so it dries quick?

I'm in there 10,000 times a night anyway , might as well be changing sheets

My friend used gaffer tape on her son's nappy when he did the same thing ... it works

It doesn't have to go on the skin, you know ...

MarsLady · 13/06/2008 07:48

You need those industrial sized staples, 2 padlocks and a chain.

Trust me flamey!

SoupKitchen · 13/06/2008 07:56

DD reuses a nappy at night, but we have found we can put it on as soon as she goes into a deep sleep, she doesn't wake and we end up with a dry bed.

Flamesparrow · 13/06/2008 07:57

Marsy! The older Flameboy gets, the more I think he should never meet your twins...

Gaffer tape just seems very stiff to bend on in the night.

OP posts:
MarsLady · 13/06/2008 07:59

That's why you have to go with the chain flamey! Go with the chain. You know you want to!

Flamesparrow · 13/06/2008 08:08

Think how loud he could be with the chain though... against the stairgates....

OP posts:
MarsLady · 13/06/2008 09:11

I'm not completely cruel you know. The chain would be covered with insulating tape so that everyone else can sleep!

[genius emoticon]

Flamesparrow · 13/06/2008 12:50

I think I love you
