Is this normal , he used to sit for ages playing but lately he seems to be constantly moving or doing something.
Just wondering if it's developmental or somethings up ( his dad was in hospital in November). I try talking to him and he seems ok just somethings changed recently.

How much outdoor exercise has he been getting over Christmas and in the bad weather?
Have sporting extra curriculars stopped over the school holidays?

Ive tried to get him out a few times, swimming, playing with friends etc , but football and training have all been off and were cancelled this week too.

When DS3 was born, I was gifted a book by a paediatrician called Christopher Green. The foreword of the book was something like this:
you will spend the first two years of your child’s life teaching them to speak and walk and the following 10 telling them to shut up and sit still.

Children should be having at least an hour of exercise a day but ideally more. Try making sure he is getting this for a month or so and then review.

Sounds as though he needs a good run out every day. Children need to burn off energy - they are not good at being stationary.
I agree with @Clutterbug2026 's suggestion.
