21 month olds sleep

Hi all! Looking for either some advice or if it's a wait it out (😭) situation even some solidarity 😂. My 21 month old has actually been a good sleeper as long as nothing is going on (leaps, regression, illness, teething etc). For the last 2 months, he has been waking up at 11:30pm on the dot, crying and can't settle himself so we are going in and shushing and patting and if that isn't working a cuddle. Then he does this again 4 more times and the last time he won't let us leave the room and wakes up and cries as soon as we move no matter how long we've sat next to his cot. We've ended up having to hold his hand until he's fully asleep and the full process from 11:30pm is taking about 2/3 hours. After the hand hold he's down until wake up time. I do think it's separation anxiety and maybe also developmental because his speech has rocketed recently but not sure if I'm missing something. Teeth are ok currently, we have a solid bedtime routine, bath, milk, chill time on the couch with us then stories and bed. He's also been taking an hour to get to sleep which for a while we managed to get him down within ten minutes with little intervention. Starting to struggle with the tiredness if I'm honest so any advice welcome 😂.

Have you considered a floorbed?

My dd suddenly stopped letting us transfer her to the cot at around 13 months and it was taking hours to get her back down after a wake so we switched to a floorbed. It's been life-changing. We just lie next to her for 10-20 minutes and then roll away.

She also started sleeping through the first night in it, after waking 1-3 times a night for months!

Yes I know I want to get her one definitely I have just been towing and throwing on when to get it! I'm nervous about the no high sides just incase but it sounds like this could be the solution!
