Has anyone experienced this? I was hoping he’d be happier on food as he’s suffers from reflux and cmpa. :(

CMPA baby here too (well, he's a toddler now). He was also allergic to soy (still is) and eggs (he's over that now thankfully). He also reacts badly to aubergines, which is so random.

Take weaning slowly so you can rule stuff out. It's painful as fuck weaning an allergy prone child but in a couple of months it'll be much easier once you know what he can or cannot eat.

It is also normal for babies' stomachs to need a while to adjust to food. We were on one meal a day until 7 months. 3 meals by 9 months and he's a fantastic eater so there is hope in sight. Just takes some thought and effort now, which is hard as they're so small and you're probably still sleep deprived.

Careful if you use pouches. I wouldn't, lots of them have dairy in them.

Thank you, he’s been upset after every meal he’s actually swallowed, just single veg so don’t think it’s an allergy thing just uncomfortable . I’m hoping he just needs some time to adjust. Or could it be because his stomach is irritated anyway and it makes it worse as he’s not fully comfortable on hydrolysed formula anyway.

OK, so his milk has not been sorted out?

Mine would have been sick as fuck on hydrolyzed formula, sorry. Dairy protein causes their gut to inflame (which is why the symptoms take weeks to clear) so if the milk is not right, it will definitely affect weaning.

You need to go back to your doctor and push to try the amino acid formula if you don't think this one is working.

Yes, unfortunately, the start of weaning can really cause them a lot of digestive upset. There seems to be a real rush to start solids to make life easier, but it absolutely doesn’t. I found it made mine uncomfortable and really disrupted sleep for about the first month. No allergies here, so nothing to do with that.

Personally, if you don’t have his milk sorted, absolutely hold off on weaning. It’s totally unnecessary unless he’s 7 months already. He needs time this gut to heal and adjust before throwing another spanner in the works.
