What are essentials in a shared kids room?

I am in the process of reconfiguring my current DS1 room (a large double) so DS2 can join him. We already have bunk beds sorted but looking to purchase some more furniture and/ or storage solutions. Ages are 4 and 2.

What in your experience has worked well in a kids room/ anything that hasn’t? ideally looking for things that grow with DS’s and last. The room already has fitted wardrobes so storage is good however can never have enough toy storage in my opinion! There is a large empty space on the other side of the room and I am considering either a desk that can extend as they get bigger (looking at the IKEA Flisat) or a play couch. I’m not sure which would be used most? My DS1 is a keen model maker (Lego/ playmobil etc) so a dedicated space such as a desk with shelving to display finished models could be a good solution. However I think they would both love building dens and using a play couch in imaginative play. Any suggestions appreciated! Thanks

IKEA kallax, as big as possible. Grows with them, from toy storage, to clothes storage, to a display unit, to a tv stand. You can set up individual cubes as drawers, cupboards, Lego storage or small world scenarios.

Perhaps design in some areas which each child can call their own?
